economists meeting in Göttingen (2)

This is a continuation of my Blogs to the annual meeting of the Verein für socialpolitik in Göttingen, which had to offer in many ways:

Former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who studied in Göttingen, and his old companion, Oskar Lafontaine fought a slugfest. However, this “long-distance-duel” did not take place in the context of a meeting event. Lafontaine’s response to schröder’s looking back on his time in government was organized by a so-called supplementary event during the conference time, a stand-alone lecture series held. And also the comedian Erwin Pelzig filled in one night for a “Student cellar”; to berate Economists laughed at business professionals of the two “stock” in equal measure.

Here is a short video sequence, we arrive Gerhard Schröder at the conference.

Here is a video sequence from the speech of Gerhard Schröder, wherein the video size and volume was due to my placement in the lecture hall will be sub-optimal (first half of the speech, to give an impression):

In the “Handelsblatt” has detailed information about Gerhard schröder’s speech, the presence of Oskar Lafontaine and the reactions of the listeners reported: Here is the article: Schröder enjoys, Lafontaine is raging.

From my point of view, the delivery of the former Chancellor to top form; he had the content, rhetoric and one-liners always in the handle. He sprayed full of self-confidence and left no doubt that his Agenda 2010, a significant share of the current labour market success in Germany. In addition, he said the current Chancellor, Essentially, to act in terms of economic policy, correctly and neatly. Only in the case of Greece, where he criticized the unnecessary haste to meet the austerity requirements of the public budget.

In the next blog posts I will talk about the club events and the reaction of Oskar Lafontaine to the speech of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.

The economic publishers traditionally participate in this meeting. For the UTB were the programme makers Rainer Berger and Dr. Jürgen Schechler of UVK Lucius on the spot, in addition to the current thematic Trends with the educational challenges of the discipline of Economics to deal with and interact with other experts.
