Why does my Audi A3 have a flat spot?

Not sure what the flat spot is tbh, but it could be the boost pressure sensor mis reading, but its hard to say. TDI engines going into limp home with N75, turbo or boost problems are quite common and reletivly straight forward to diag and fix, you just need to know if you have to much or to little boost helps figure out why.

DOdgy vacuum line – A split. Turbo vanes can stick in open position so not closing when at higer revs/speed and producing overboost.

The car is fine and boosts as (I think) it should, but once at about 70mph (3k rpm or so in 5th) the boost seems to vanish which can make for some pretty tricky moments on the motorways! I’m not getting any lights on the dash to indicate a ECU problem – but I wonder if the ECU light even works?

Audi A3 – Armitage Shanks {p} Somewhere else within this forum I think I have read that a/c, set to maximim cooling, should give a temp of +6C at the oulet vents. You should be able to check that with a fridge thermometer as that is the temp a fridge is meant to be at!

Drop the windows and do the same, sounds just the same but a lot louder, i don’t think for one second the turbo is faulty as there are no dodgy noise from that, prior to this excess air noise on boost developing the turbo whistled away as you would expect. Car is an A3 Sport-back S line, 2.0L TDI 140, 40K miles, 56 plate, manual.

Is there a problem with my Audi A3 losing coolant?

I have an A3, 2.0 diesel, 2010, had it nearly 3 years and it’s just hit 70k miles. Since end of last yearish, I noticed that it was losing coolant. Had many different friends who are good with cars and mechanics look it. No signs of head gasket gone at all, other than the losing coolant. Engine has never over heated, temp is always fine.

Can a water pump leak in an Audi A3?

Water pump leaks are very common but hard to spot as it’s not that visible in the engine bay. It’s one of the first things I’d check. My old A3 had a slow coolant leak for some time, it wasn’t easy to see where from but it was minimal so I put up with it for a while.
