How long has my Silverado Z71 been losing coolant?

Why is the coolant leaking from my Chevy Silverado?
On July 21 my 2004 Chevrolet silverado overheated and had a sudden loss of power. The problem was a direct result of a cracked head that leaked all of the engine coolant into the oil pan. This defect is a known defect to gm per a technical service bulliten that was issued in 2007.

Can a 5.3L Vortec leak hot coolant?
You may never see a small leak when the engine and coolant is hot because it evaporates immediately after it leaks. The 5.3L Vortec has a dry intake manifold therefore the leak cannot be there. I finally sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs ( http://www.blackstone-labs.com ) and they confirmed that I had coolant in my oil.
