Is it normal for a Vauxhall fan to run all the time?

When the air con was on auto, and starting from cold, the front (external) fan had quite a loud whine for about a minute before going quiet. Is this normal?

How to keep Vauxhall Astra J cooling fan running?

Generic code readers don’t tend to read the code as it is a Vauxhall specific code. Hope this thread helps Make sure you spray the back of the 4 bolts with wd40 a few hours before you start and work the bolts anti clockwise and clockwise as you remove the bolts. They tend to be corroded, but with care should come out.

When does the radiator fan come on or off?

Also when putting the air con on, it kicks in the fan and goes off when air con is turn off so that seems to be working fine also. I will of course check to see if the radiator fan comes on when i start the car in the morning when cold to rule anything else out ( as i’ve never know of a radiator cooling fan to come on when engine cold )

Why is my Astra J air con not turning on?

Also the small amount of air that still exits the front vents while in the “UP” setting feels cooler than I might expect given the outside air temperature. The air isn’t as cold as when the air-con is turned on normally via the button. I can turn the air-con and the air gets colder.
