The first ever flight of an Aer Lingus plane took place on the 27th of May 1936. At the time, Aer Lingus only owned one aircraft, which was named Lolar, meaning eagle. It was stored at Baldonnel military airbase just outside of Dublin city. The first flight went from Baldonnel to Bristol.
