What causes an engine to over heat when the temp is high?

This cool water acts like, and can mimic, a heat exchanger. As the temp in the heater rises the engine can no longer dissipate heat into that water and the engine begins to over heat. Don’t forget to write all these numbers down with both your high normal and low normal range readings.

Why does my car heat up and cool down at the same time?

With the thermostat stuck open, the flow through the radiator is constant and so your engine will have a hard time keeping it’s heat. This sort of problem can happen anytime, but it’s not until the weather starts cooling that it gets noticed. Colder outside air means more cooling from the radiator.

Why does my car have a slow temp rise?

If it isn’t, the radiator has a flow problem. If these two steps don’t solve the problem, it is possible that the cooling fan for the radiator does not pull enough air. Finally, a radiator hose could be weak and the higher speed of the engine causes the hose to collapse and impede the coolant circulation. SnoopRob July 5, 2016, 11:32pm #3

Why does my car overheat when the temp is up?

Finally, a radiator hose could be weak and the higher speed of the engine causes the hose to collapse and impede the coolant circulation. Thanks – I read some other threads about feeling your way through the cooling system after the engine is up to temp to see if there’s anyplace (hose, etc) it gets cold…

What causes a car engine to get hot?

It sounds like your engine might have a restriction in the cooling system. If the cooling system has a restriction that prevents its flow, this will cause the engine to get hot. The heat is dissipated from the cooling system by means of the radiator. When a restriction exists sometimes the radiator alone is not enough.

When is a car heater is on its normal temp?

Overheating issue, when heater is on its normal temp. but… Q: Overheating issue, when heater is on its normal temp. but if heater is off it begins to overheats, until heater is turn on again. When driving, car over heats, but if I turn heater on, temperature eases back to normal, and is good to go unless I turn heat off again.
