What kind of engine does a Willys Hurricane have?

What kind of engine does a Willys Hurricane have?

In 1965, the CJ-5 and CJ-6 four-cylinder Willys Hurricane Engine was supplemented with 155 hp (116kW), as a result of Kaiser having purchased the casting rights to the Buick 225 cu in (3.7 L) V6 Dauntless. While the CJ-5 remained fairly consistent throughout many years of production, 1972 brought with it several changes worth mentioning.

Are there any Willys engines that fit jeeps?

With some research, you might find that they fit the Jeeps too. The KFOCI site would be useful for Willys owners as lots of people are interested in both–and yes, some people have swapped the L-226 SS/SH engines both ways it seems.

Where are the engine numbers on a willystech?

These numbers should have been located on a pad on the left front corner of engine block and on a plate on left side of the block. Kaiser engines didn’t interchange from ’51 to ’54 so I believe these to be different then the ’50.

What kind of seat did willystech 134 engine have?

The 134 engines originally had a valve seat cut directly into the cast block. This metal is too soft and wears rapidly, especially with unleaded gas. My engine had been fitted with hardened valve seat inserts.

What should I do if my Willys Jeep overheats?

Engines are not damaged by high coolant temperatures unless the coolant boils. Should overheating be encountered, check for the following: 1. Proper coolant level. 2. Poor air flow. Check for dirty radiator core. Check for faulty belt pulley operation, worn or loose fan belt, or damaged fan. Clean, repair, or adjust as needed. 3. Foaming coolant.

How does the cooling system work on a Willys Jeep?

Directed cooling and large water holes, properly placed in the cylinder head gasket cause more water to flow past the valve seats (the hottest parts of the block) and carry the heat away from the valve, giving positive cooling of valves and seats. This system is designed to provide adequate cooling under adverse conditions.

What to look for in a Willys Jeep?

1. Proper coolant level. 2. Poor air flow. Check for dirty radiator core. Check for faulty belt pulley operation, worn or loose fan belt, or damaged fan. Clean, repair, or adjust as needed. 3. Foaming coolant. Check for air leaks at water pump, hose connection and filler cap. Tighten, repair or replace. 4. Surging or “after boil”.

What is the S / N on my willystech engine?

Seriously, in answer to Merl’s attached question regarding S/Ns and the possibility of Sears parts replacements, the S/N on the block of my engine is FW17036. NOW, can I possibly get some serious answers regarding the information I have to give the folks at the parts counters when I ask for a re-build kit for the beast???
