Why is my a / C not working on my Chevy Sonic?

Why is my a / C not working on my Chevy Sonic?

The engine PID for ambient temp is pulled off the IAT and ambient temp sensor as a default. If the ambient sensor isn’t working, it will use the IAT as default. The wiring for the ambient temp sensor was pulled apart in the insulation, only making contact intermittently. After repairing the wiring, the a/c works.

Why does my AC compressor clutch not engage?

Why AC clutch won’t engage If the clutch doesn’t engage, the problem could be a blown fuse, an open in the wire to the clutch coil, a bad clutch coil, a poor ground, or a low pressure lockout. AC compressor clutches receive power in a number of ways.

What happens when an AC compressor is not engaged?

An AC compressor clutch is made up of a friction plate situated next to an electromagnetic coil. Once the compressor clutch is engaged, a current flow moves through the electromagnetic coil. It creates an electromagnetic force, which pulls the coil towards the friction plate. This gives power to the pump rotor that keeps the compressor running.

Why is my AC compressor not working in my Chevy Cruze?

The compressor was fine, the control circuitry was fine, but 12v to the coil didn’t do anything because the coil was shot. Everything else on the car functions fine. No codes/CEL. Did have an odd battery issue a few months back, would a bad negative battery cable only affect the AC? Unlikely, I’d guess.

Why is my Chevy Sonic a / C not working?

Recharged the a/c system to correct charge using another a/c machine and test drove to verify repairs. I informed them that the a/c was blowing warm air and getting a musty smell in the car. Occasionally it will kick in and blow cold for a very short while. They found an inlet tube seal leaking due to faulty seal.

What happens when you press the a / C switch?

When the A/C switch is pressed, an A/C request message to the ECM. If the ECM determines that conditions are acceptable for A/C operation, it will ground the A/C compressor clutch relay control circuit, which activate the A/C compressor clutch relay. With the relay contacts closed, battery voltage is supplied to the A/C compressor clutch.
